My set from “Core Flow on the Rocks” with instructor Michael Schaeffer at Yoga Loft Naples, June 13th. This was extremely fun for me because I had an opportunity to share some beautiful tracks that wouldn’t necessarily work on a dancefloor.
Mortinare – Nuke City
Cloud Atlas – Tom Hanks Monologue
Sorceress – Teacups
Dead Head – The Dam
Taylor McFerrin feat. Emily King – Decisions
Youandewen – 1988
Matt Lange feat. Jeza – I Can’t Forgive
Sharon Van Etten – We Are Fine (Tourist Remix)
Stars of the Lid – A Meaningful Moment Through a Meaningless Process
Deep and Progressive House groovers from Exoplanet and Matt Lange kick this one off before melting into Chillstep and Trip-Hop from Sorrow and Galimatias. Liquid Funk builds into a couple Amen-fueled bangers in the second half of the mix, before cooling down with a euphoric new release from Nelver.
Some deep, progressive grooves to accompany October’s cool down. I went old-school this time, with dialog from Bladerunner dissolving into classical instrumental from Mortinare. Big tracks include California Sunday, J. Axel’s The Journey, and of course Frank Weidemann’s treatment of Shortline.
My first recording in several years, this mix spans over 5 years in Tech House. Big moments in this one, for me, come from the epic crescendo of See You on the Other Side and the beautiful keys in Kittie in an Empty House. I hope that, somewhere in the middle, you find yourself moved, and by the end, maybe you’re dancing along to the beat in your chair.
This mix was recorded back in 2003, mostly from vinyl. One of the most fascinating things about music is its ability to take you back in time. It’s amazing how our minds almost catalog certain memories by the music we were listening to at the time. For me, fond memories of my 20’s, epic house parties and my early years as a DJ accompany this up-tempo mix.
